How mcuh to charge on an industrial exterior paint job? How much per foot?

please help me thanks so muchHow mcuh to charge on an industrial exterior paint job? How much per foot?
Its around $1 per foot. You can find more information below. They have information on home construction, home renovation, home improvement services. How mcuh to charge on an industrial exterior paint job? How much per foot?
It all depends on what surface the paint is going on - wood, steel, concrete, etc. as well as how many stories the building is and how much trim work is needed, Get 3 estimates at least.

What is the best way to remove industrial paint from hair?

TRY BABY OIL!!

AT LEAST THATS WHAT I HEARD!!What is the best way to remove industrial paint from hair?
Cut all the hair that has the paint on and style the hair up in a bun with a side fringe like my frind Chantelle. What is the best way to remove industrial paint from hair?
Gasoline, I get paint off my hands real easily, I think it should work for hair as well. Baby oil is a sure bet, but it's sooooo greasy
Try baby oil and use a lice comb to ease it out - don't try any harsh chemicals, as it could damage the rest of the hair. Failing that, you may need to consider cutting it out, but try the oil and lice comb first.

What is the Industrial Formula of Enamel Paints ?

what is the industrial formula of enamel paints ? Which chemicals are to be mixed in what ratio to make the enamel paint ? Please give me the exact formula. What is the Industrial Formula of Enamel Paints ?
You must be joking, the formula is extremely complex and mostly covered by confidentiality. To give you an example you may be looking at the addition of 20 or so ingredients at various stages of the process. As well as this there is about 3 stages to the manufacturing process.

The exact formula will depend on what the Enamel paint will be used for;

interior

exterior

Substrate wall door, wood metal etc

Method of application, spray, brush, curtain etc

Colour

Longevity

Solvent of water based

etc

Briefly,

Pigment, solvent (sometimes water), sometimes resin (alkyd)dispersant added and milled to grind pigment

This is stabilised; generally by adding more resin.

Then this is letdown with additives more resin and solvent plus an accelerant/drier (often a metal naphanate/ octoate etc). Additives will vary based on the specs of the paint but can include thickeners, waxes, rheology agents, UV agents, stabilisers, etc.

If you give more specific info may be able to help further

The current Houses of Parliament have been around since the early 1800's. Westminster Abbey is nearby (along with Westminster School), St. Paul's since the late 1600's; the Tower of London. You probably need to choose an area (the Tower and Parliament are several miles from each other). There are any number of woodcuts, engravings, paintings, and even photos from the period. Google ';images'; might have some. Good luck!

  • Where can I download a free ebook on industrial painting?

I have found very little if any free reference material on the Internet. Companies posting such items are likely in violation of copyrights. In many cases, free materials are actually advertisements for a specific product.

There are many good guides for industrial finishing and not particularly expensive either. Keep in mind during your search that paint is a finish. ASME and other non-profit engineering organizations tend to maintain decent stores with current information. The other thing to search for is free finishing publications. I receive several of the latter at work that often have good articles on new finishing techniques, equipment, and even question and answer articles. Magazines are about as close as you can get to for free. Also, I think the online content is easier to gain free access.

    Industrial Paint Question

I am having a problem with my industrial painter, and I can't seem to figure out what it is. I have castings (cast iron) that are primered by the foundry with ';Checkrust Shopcoat Primer'; - AKP-363 Red. They are then machined by my company, and washed. Next they go to my painter where they are sanded, wiped down with thinner, and the particulates blown off. Then another coat of primer is applied - ';Devguard 4160'; in Red. Then the topcoat of ';Centari'; Acrylic Enamel is applied - in a variety of colors.

My problem is adhesion. The topcoat, along with the 2nd layer of primer is peeling off, literally in sheets, with hardly any effort at all.

At first I thought it was a preparation issue – my painter could have been taking shortcuts, but the more I investigate, the less likely I believe that to be.

My next thought was curing time for the 2nd primer layer. So we ran an experiment: One casting was primered and allowed to cure for over 48 hours before applying the topcoat. Another casting was primered and allowed to cure for less than 2 hours before applying the topcoat. The results were the same – both units peeled extensively.

When the paint peels, it is bringing the 2nd layer of primer along with it; leaving the original layer of primer nearly intact.

My thought is this: either the 2nd layer of primer is not adhering properly with the 1st layer of primer (a chemical incompatibility?): or the solvents in the paint are penetrating the 2nd layer of primer, causing it to separate from the 1st layer of primer.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? How do I find basic knowledge on paint: hardeners, accelerators, etc. Where can I find basic knowledge on paint types and compatibility: enamels versus urethanes, versus polyurethanes, etc?

I am a novice in regards to paint types or chemicals used, so any help that can be offered would be greatly appreciated.

    Industrial Paint Question
Have a talk with your coatings vendor.Industrial Paint Question
It looks like the second coat which is an acrylic enamel was applied after the primer has already completely hardened hence there is a poor adhesion between the two types of paint. What could have been done if the primer has already hardened is to apply a mist coat ( about 25 microns of devguard) over the primer then apply the second coat while the mist coat is still tucky.
Sounds perplexing, after reading I though of two areas where the problem could stem from.

    • Pre-treatment: You stated that you “wash” the part once you receive it. I assume this is a standard degreaser or a 3 or more stage washer. Often inter-coat adhesion problems stem from residue being left on the substrate. Start your investigation there.

    • Second coat of Primer: This may sound simple but why prime the part for a second time. The base coat should give you ample rust protection. Have you tried top coating the shop coat primer? If you are worried about durability you could switch to a 2 component system that would save you a step and increase color and gloss life.

I have used and recommend a line of paint called “Next Gen” from Diamond Vogel Paints. It has a “wet on wet” technology that allows you to prime the part then immediately top coat the part, that could solve the problem and speed up you line time.

I have direct experience with 5 part ';system'; painting and priming industrial steel products.

I believe you may find that the SANDING is NOT being cleaned off enough. Sanding may produce a surface which though wiped and blown off retains particles lower than the average surface. NOTHING will adhere when there remains ANY PARTICULATES.

Castings are difficult enough, but a red shop prime is weak followed by the rest.

HELP - What to do if you mix the wrong ratio for industrial strength paint for concrete floors?

Since it is Sunday we cannot get tech help from the company we purchased the paint from, in 15 hours the business that we painted will open up and have 50+ employees walking around. At 6 AM this morning lines were painted on a concrete floor, however the wrong ratio was used. The paint is WAY to thin (not enough hardener was used) and now the paint is just sitting on the floor and not drying. Are there any suggestions to solve this problem because the paint will not dry without the hardner, and we have already put down 3.5 gallons worth of paint, that we now realize isn't drying. The paint is from Sherwin-Williams, it is called PAce-Cote 4844, it is a unique high solids resin utilizing polyaspartic technology, any extra information needed can be found at www.generalpolymers.comHELP - What to do if you mix the wrong ratio for industrial strength paint for concrete floors?
The only offset for a low hardener ratio is to apply heat. I'm assuming you have added some hardener, which would be necessary for cure, pretty much regardless of heat. I don't know how you'd heat a large floor area, tho, unless you have a bunch of heat lamps. You could always resort to pallets laid over the lines supported off the floor with a couple of 2x4's. Hate to admit it, but I've had to resort to something like that once or twice over the course of my career.

They use a urethane enamel with a catalyst/hardener. Dupont Imron was the industry standard for years on machinery and aircraft. For your purposes an acrylic enamel with hardener, applied in thick coats over an acid washed and primed substrate will work nicely.A visit to the auto paint supply store should be in order here, but be advised that this stuff isn't cheap. What type of paint do industrial manufacturers like CAT, John Deere, Ditch Witch use on their equipment?
Where applicable, you might consider a commercial hot powder coating facility for many of the parts. It's much more durable and nicer looking than paint.

    Oh! Thats sad.

But don't worry, there are amny things that could help!

An easy way to remove spray paint from hands -- Use a little Pine-Sol to take all the paint off without having to scrub!

Oil based paint - use mineral turpentine, then soap and water with a Scoth Brite pad.

The mineral turpentine can be drying so moisturise well after scrubbing.

Sometimes,FANTASTIK all purpose spray cleaner... works perfectly.

Just spray it on hands and rub it in and wipe it off with a washcloth.

    Good Luck.

    Hope this works

    and

hope Dad n Daughter will have a lots of fun together! :-)Does anyone know how to get industrial spray paint off hands?
Try some waterless hand cleaner like mechanics use. ';Gojo'; makes a few different varieties. I've used them to take dried paint and primer off my hands, without the stink and drying problems that go with paint thinner or turpentine.
i am painting contractor and products like orange scrub and go jo uaually do not work on industrial enamels....we usually put some laquer thinner on a rag and scrub it off ,then wash hands with a moisturising soap and water.
There is a great product called ';Orange Scrub,'; that is non-toxic and is usually sold at paint/hardware stores. It's basically orange peel and soap. It's the abrasive nature of the product that gets it to work, NOT the chemicals. The thing to remember is that if you use a harsh product (such as turpintine) you run the risk of getting it into your bloodstream through absorption and/or cuts as well as the risk of transferring it to the baby through skin-to-skin contact.

we are painting a circle tracker it dosen't have to be fancy just a decent paint job. if anyone knows it would be a great help ,,,thank youWhat is the ratio of paint and thinner when using industrial paint on a car?
if you look at the side of the can ..provided you bought good paint it will say what and how much reducer, hardner, ect to put in it.

it depends on the paint manuf. and if your going base, clear

dont forget the fish eye remover, and to get a regulator so you can turn it down to ...check can again but i think its 45 psi. one other thing dont mix each cup in the sprayer...mix enough to get all the way around in one big cup then put as needed into the gun cup....cause one or two drops will make a diffrence and people will wonder why it changes colors as it goes around the car...ive seen it ..ok done it before.

if nothin else go to a napa store talk to the paint guy...tell him what your doing..they might even give you the stuff you need to do all of it if you put the store name on it!!What is the ratio of paint and thinner when using industrial paint on a car?
If there is nothing on the can then it will depend on the painter's preference and equipment. You add thinner to dilute the paint for easier spraying, so if you ask an actual painter they usually say by feel and experience. Also the spray gun nozzle and setting will dictate how much to add. Just experiment with it until you get a spray that is not to clumpy and will not run on you.
usualy 4 parts thinner to 1 part paint sprayed at about 30 pounds pressure per square inch. practice on someone elses car first. good luck
I think its 3-1 but if you read the can it should tell you spray paint is cheaper and easer

if it is a truly industrial sprayer, you will have some differenges ,you will have to prime it a little longer, cleaning is the same, how far you stand from the building is relative to tip size,if there are nearby buildings very close ,use a smaller tip and stand closer to aviod the overspray,if you are clear of nearby buildings, then you can stand just as you would on the inside,if you think you are standing too close and have to spray too fast to avoid sags/runs turn the pressure down on the sprayer and find a comfortable distance for you to work effectivley from, the pressure will be a lot higher than you are used to ,our indusrial sprayers if run wide open at full pressure and empty a 55 gallon drum of paint in approx 30 minutes. good luck....painting contractorHow to use an industrial paint sprayer.?

Quit dude...trust me... Besides the sinus thing i've had other health problems from it.. I went from totally healthy to on meds all the time, cant remember crap, blackouts sometimes, and several other things....

Quit now....My friends showed me how to huff industrial paint, its cheap and feels good, is it safe?
You'll die in a week or two that way!
    no. it kills brain cells.

beer is a better alternative, and you'd have to be creative as to how to get some.
of course it is safe. do as much as you can handle tonight and every day after.
There is almost nothing worse you could do to your body. Really - stop.
    lol... this is fake, huh?
Having worked with kids that had done that for years, I can tell you it ranks right up there with the worst possible things you can do to your body.
';Medical experts say that huffing can be fatal in numerous ways. The gases in the materials that are inhaled can significantly limit available oxygen in the air, causing the person to stop breathing. To intensify the effect of the inhalants, huffers often use plastic bags, which can lead to suffocation.

    Inhaling chemicals can also lead to sudden sniffing death syndrome, when irregular heartbeat leads to cardiac arrest. Over the long term, huffing can also cause irreversible brain damage.';

    - So no, it is not safe. You'll end up a brain dead cabbage patch doll eating your nightly mush through a tube.
Any type of huffing will cause damage to your lungs and to your brain. You have been lucky so far, the first time has killed many a person. You need to stop immediately, get away from it.
NO it is not safe a very good friends son killed himself doing that
You are killing brain cells every time that you huff anything. Not to mention that it can kill you. You need help - check into detox or rehab
NOOOOO you are killing brain cells.
NOOOO Do NOT do it...It is NOT safe.
OK stupid - you are not only stupid, but you have stupid friends.

Huffing is more dangerous than Heroin. (but about as dangerous as meth). It kills brain cells, can destroy your olfactory nerves, adheres to your red blood cells which in turn can make your body think it is fully oxygenated when it is in fact not (much like carbon monoxide)

Please don't huff. You will die or suffer significant permanent brain damage. Find something else to do for fun. Perhaps take up weight lifting, skate boarding, biking, dating, etc.

And by god, stay away from WalMart. WalMart will give you a permanent case of white trash redneck syndrome
    Not likely safe..
well this certainly answers a couple of questions that I've had recently about some of the questions and answers to come out of you

This is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ACTIVITY

merely bringiing up the subject for someone else to quiz and then look into is dangerously close to the edge

It is a matter of some record ---that this is one activity that can immediately turn you into a slavvering idiot in no time at all and will in very rapid order kill you as dead as last year's thanksgiving turkey-------------so ---answer here--NO--it is not safe at all !!!!
It is absolutely NOT safe. You are risking possible brain damage and death by huffing. Every time you huff you kill lots of brain cells, and run a high risk of permanent damage because your body can't metabolize the chemicals.

I don't recommend this practice, and any time you do it could well be your last time.
don't listen to these guys . Huffing paint is good clean fun. Have you tried doing it while laying face down with your face in the plastic bag? It totally rocks!!!!
he just want to join in, keep doing it. who need brain cells anyway
you will drown right in the open air that way.
R u retarded!!!??? It is definitely not safe! It kills mad brain cells that WON'T grow back!!
Absolutetly not safe.As a drug/alcohol counselor I can tell you it does massive damage to your lungs,as well as brain damage. If you don't die you could destroy motor skills as well as memory and rational thought processesFOREVER!
SAFE , yea its safe ,as safe as if you had live bullet bouncing in your brain ,you will probably ,one day lose motor functions and you'll be drooling and wearing adult diapers,if you have any brain cell in good functioning order left, stop it, you know its hurting you and it can kill you, paints got lead in it and you can get lead poising- duh
Yeah why doot allter time. Feels realt goot.

Is cheaper industrial paint for builders as good as high end commericial paint?

I am planning to paint but due to budget, this time I may try a cheaper paint from home depot ($18 per Galon) rather than what I used to use CIL ($28 per Galon). Does it really matter? because I have whole house interior to paint for 2 coats, the cheaper paint can save me about $500 in total. Your advice pleaseIs cheaper industrial paint for builders as good as high end commericial paint?
    hiya 1001...

the real question isn't whether a cheaper paint is as good as a more expensive paint - but is the cheaper paint good enough for your needs?

...and the real cost of a product is not determined just by the cost per gallon. even though both inexpensive and premium quality products are generally rated to cover 400 square feet per gallon, they rarely do. more realistically, an inexpensive paint will cover 200-250 square feet per gallon while a premium grade may cover as much as 350 sq. ft. per gallon...the reason for this spread rate disparity is due to (a) the type of pigments used in the construction of finish products (premium paints use higher levels of more expensive prime pigments versus extender, of ';filler'; pigments used in less expensive products), and (b) the ratio of pigments (solids) to vehicle (liquid portion) concentration (pvc)...

a paint film is actually a cubicle dimension...square footage only tells a part of the story - the thickness (or film build) is equally important in determining the product's performance. generally speaking, a cheaper paint will have a greater film build than a more expensive product. again, this is due to the type of pigments used and how much product need be applied to the surface to ensure adequate hiding - the more expensive pigments are more opaque and require less build to cover or hide.

...and there are several other advantages to using a more expensive, premium grade product...premium grade products will not only spread further and cover (hide) better, they are also more washable and stain resistant (less porous), less likely to burnish (turn shiny when rubbed up against), easier to apply, less spatter, much better u.v. light resistance (less fade), better transition from brush-to-roll application (less ';hat-banding';), greater freeze-thaw stability, more able to touch-up cleanly and a better foundation (base) when it comes time to repaint (less absorption by subsequent applications of paint)....

it is true that paint manufacturers will charge whatever the market will bear - and that cost is not really the best way to determine a products performance characteristics... but since we exist in an extremely competitive environment (no one will sell a product for less than what it's worth, but few can sell it for more than what it's worth), certain assumptions can be made based on the retail selling price of a product - if a product is more expensive, then typically it is made of more expensive components - and at greater ratios - more expensive components will result in a better performance.

i hope this info is helpful...good luck on your projects, and feel free to e-mail if you want or need additional info...

If your having an issue with cost then go to a paint store and use there highbuild brand, it usually runs about $8-11 a gallon.

    And has wonderful coverability.

Paint pricing is often what the market will withstand, volume of sales. You might look at the volume issue CIL source verses Home Depot.

The only way you can really tell is to ask for the Arcutectual specs

for each brand of paint as well as the line of paint ....then make the comparison.

The Arcutectual specs should tell what the main components are as well as give you a wear test result, what agents may be offencive to the product etc.

You really must look beyond the sales personal and the brochure that the store uses to promote a product.
For $20 you can join Consumer Reports online. They have an excellent review on house paint and you can save big bucks and get a great paint job.
First you have to decide what you need from the paint. You should use cheaper paint IF: its for your own home and you are not abusive to your surroundings , or its for rental property, or if its to fix up a home that is going on the market. You should use a better grade of paint IF:you need to gently clean the walls at times. You need good paint for no other reasons for interior if you are already planning on 2 coats.Builders do not use ';cheap industrial paint';, they use lower quality or the bottom priced grade of residential or architectural paints. there is no such thing as a commercial paint. Industrial paints are usually the hardest and the most durable of all paints and can be over $100 a gallon. Home depot in some areas carries a Glidden with a Home Depot private label called Americas Finest, this will work good if you determine you need cheap(about $11-$13 in Midwest USA)So to my estimation you need 50 gallons of paint,if the price difference will save you $500.You need to make sure you can get the 50 gallons when needed, from who ever supplies you. And by the way you can't walk into walmart and get 50 gallons of anything!
no there is no difference but if you have a wallmart where you are you can save even more money..they have one coat paint there for $11 a gallon and it is just as good (better to me) but cheaper!
I agree to the Wal-Mart paint as I have sprayed/brushed and rolled many different brands of paint for ppl. It is economical and seems to be a good product...and CHEAP! I have it on 3 buildings I own and it's still holding up after 4 years in Texas heat! I have painted with more expensive products/paints and have seen about the same results ...interior and exterior. I'm not selling Wal-mart....but as a owner of properties I have trust in their paint.
Cheaper paint will save money but the u get what u pay for. Lowes has one coat paints that rage from $19 and up depending on what type of finish u what, ALso check out the mistinted paints that sell for $5
    obviously no..
